There is Spoon Fest in England, Spoon Gathering in the US and Spoon Jam in Australia, and now Ontario , Canada has its own meet up for dedicated spoon-carving fans. Spoon Moot!
What is a Moot? Historically speaking its a a noun used to assembly held for debate, especially in Anglo-Saxon and medieval times, but it can also have these meanings:
adjective-
(1) subject to debate, dispute, or uncertainty. "whether the temperature rise was mainly due to the greenhouse effect was a moot point"
(2) having little or no practical relevance, typically because the subject is too uncertain to allow a decision. "the whole matter is becoming increasingly moot"
verb raise (a question or topic) for discussion; suggest (an idea or possibility). "Sylvia needed a vacation, and a trip to Ireland had been mooted"synonyms:raise, bring up, broach, mention, put forward, introduce, advance, present, propose, suggest, submit, propound, air, ventilate"the idea was first mooted in the 1930s"
noun LAW a mock trial set up to examine a hypothetical case as an academic exercise.
I rather like the multiple meanings and I will leave it up to attendees to decide which one of these definitions best embodies the day; perhaps all of them!
Our SpoonMoot will be an informal affair; book a place, turn up, get carving and enjoy! Its a space for carvers old and new to learn, teach and connect at the family-run Community Supported Agriculture Farm in Caledon on the slopes of Mount Wolfe, part of the beautiful Oak Ridges Moraine.
And its Free!
