SpoonMoot

Spoonmoot is returning for its 7th year in 2025!
We are back! Thanks to Sarah at Mount Wolf Farm and a bunch of dedicated spoon carvers who have formed the committee including Jamie, Deven, Mike, Agnes, Sammy and Sarah G., the Moot is transitioning through the return of OLSN Coordinator Jim to the UK.
If you are looking to learn or practice your green woodworking in a relaxed campfire experience in a wonderful location look no further! From absolute beginners to seasoned spoon-masters we will have something for you. And if we haven't, well why not just bring it along!
We will be once again in the beautiful surroundings of Mount Wolfe Farm, where camping is available. Your ticket will include all your meals.

Designed by Carm Espinal @carmandhammer

Over the years we have had some fabulous images designed for Spoonmoot and sued to create fabulous t-shirts for attendees to purchase. Last year's playful beaver design was created by Kristina D.; in 2023 we had a more totemic take from Mount Wolfe Farm's own Sarah Dolamore @spiralarmstudio ; and in '22 this simple celebration of tools from @ournuminousnature.
If you would be interested in designing our SpoonMoot 7 design, please send an email portfolio of previous work and a paragraph or two about yourself to info@ontariolandskillsnetwork.org. You will be paid for your work.

SpoonMoot:
A Very Short History
In October 2019 ORSN and Mount Wolfe Spoon Club hosted the 1st Ontario Spoon Moot (see below). Twenty-five carvers new and old bought slojd and hook knife, carving axe and spoon mule to Mount Wolfe Farm in Caledon in Southern Ontario, and a good time was had by all! As far as we are aware this was the first official large gathering of Spoon Carvers in the province, following in the woodchips of the UK's Spoonfest, Minnesota's Spoon Gathering and Australia's SpoonJam.
Things weren't looking so good in 2020 because of COVID but we wanted to keep the fire alive, so a few brave souls practiced a very safe and soically distanced Moot on October 34th 2020. Due to technical difficulties our first SpoonZoot didn't go ahead. In 2021 we came roaring back with close on thirty guests with, and a beginner workshop.
In 2022 we had out first "Weekender", when folks came for an overnight camping stay, but SpoonMoot really found its Mojo in 2023 when it became a whole weekend event open from Friday to Sunday. A combination of excellent food and an evenings Open Mic kicked off by a sublime set from musicians @AlaskaHighway (MWF's very own Shelagh Haney) and Jacob Mcpherson @jacobmacp.
Its year 6 and we are still here!
